About Keener Building Services

Keener Building Services was founded in 2024 when Jamie Keener turned his lifelong passion for carpentry into a business. At the time, he was also pursuing a degree in Business Administration and Entrepreneurship at NC State University—blending hands-on craftsmanship with formal business training from the start.

From day one, the vision was simple: to transform uninspired spaces into timeless, custom-crafted homes through quality workmanship, thoughtful design, and lasting relationships.

After graduating from NC State’s Poole College of Management in 2025, Jamie committed to growing Keener Building Services into a trusted name in Wilmington’s residential construction scene. Our goal is to guide each client through a smooth, collaborative process—beginning with thorough planning, continuing with intentional design, and ending with high-quality execution. More than just delivering great results, we strive to build authentic, long-term relationships with every homeowner we work with. Let’s get started!  

Meet Jamie 

Jamie's journey into building began long before the launch of his company. He grew up spending countless hours by his grandfather’s side, learning the tools of the trade and developing a deep appreciation for the details that make great work stand out. That early influence sparked not only a love for carpentry, but also a belief in doing things with intention, care, and excellence. 

In high school, Jamie designed and built a 14-foot wooden boat named The JoAnn, inspired by a vintage boatbuilding book gifted by his grandfather and named in honor of his grandmother. It remains one of his proudest personal projects and a lasting symbol of where his journey began.

When he’s not on the job site, you can find Jamie surfing, hunting, or fishing in the waters of Wilmington—often aboard The JoAnn. He also loves hosting lowcountry cookouts and cheering on the Wolfpack football team.
